Thunder’s new studio album ‘Rip It Up’ hits No. 3 in the UK Album Chart

Thunder’s album ‘Rip It Up’ – released on 10 February 2017 through earMUSIC – has hit number 3 in the UK album charts, giving the band their highest chart placing in 22 years. The band’s last album ‘Wonder Days’ entered the chart at No. 9 two years ago so ‘Rip It Up’ underlines the band’s continuing trajectory.  The album comes ahead of a largely sold out tour of UK and Eire.

Danny Bowes, Thunder’s frontman said, “We’re chuffed to pieces with the reaction to the album from fans and media alike, so to see it enter the chart so high is a big old cherry on the top.”

Max Vaccaro, general manager at earMUSIC, commented, “Before working with Thunder, I asked myself many times why the band were not always recognised as Britain´s finest hard rock band of their generation. The definition “national treasure” could not seem more appropriate to me, since Thunder’s wonderful mix of rock, blues and soul carries the flame for the great British tradition that the world has loved since the 60s.  What an honour to be a part of their story and to follow their return to the Top 10 with ‘Wonder Days’ two years ago with a Top 5 album!”

Henry Semmence of Absolute Label Services said, “Absolute are delighted to be a part of Thunder’s glorious chart return with ‘Rip It Up’, in what is the bands highest chart position in 22 years. Our hugely successful relationship with earMUSIC continues to deliver record breaking results and this new Thunder album has benefited from this partnership”.

‘Rip It Up’, the band’s eleventh album, features eleven brand new songs recorded in 2016 at Rockfield Studios and was produced by the band’s Luke Morley.  The record is proof positive that this is a band that exists only to push itself and aim higher.  ‘Rip It Up’ – as the title suggests – sees Danny Bowes, Luke Morley, Ben Matthews, Chris Childs and Harry James stretching themselves musically, lyrically and creatively.
