New Rules to Official UK Singles Chart

The OCC has announced that the Official Singles Chart is being updated from early July, with the introduction of new rules to help support new music and breaking artists, and help support and break more UK acts.

The key change is to allow artists to have only their 3 most popular tracks (based on sales and streams) to feature in the Official Singles Chart Top 100, meaning a swift end to a recent pattern of the likes of Ed Sheeran and Stormzy occupying 75% of the Top 20 in album release week.

By preventing over 3 tracks from AAA artists from dominating the chart in any given week, the move will make it easier for new hits and artists to feature, as well as make Singles & Album chart more distinct. Read more about it here.
