Marillion have scored their first Top 5 chart in 29 years with their new album Fuck Everyone And Run (or FEAR), released in the UK by earMUSIC via Absolute.
FEAR entered the Official UK Album Chart at No.4 today, making it the band’s best performance since Clutching At Straws, which peaked at No.2 in 1987. FEAR also landed at No.2 on the Independent Album Chart and No.1 on the Rock & Metal Album Chart.
Max Vaccaro, General Manager of earMUSIC said, “This fantastic chart placing is a reflection of not only our belief in this legendary band but also the sheer creative dynamism shown on this amazing record”.
Jonathan Green, UK MD of earMUSIC, said, “The reaction from the public and the media to this record has been extraordinary and we are delighted that the Top 5 chart position reflects that”.
Absolute MD Henry Semmence said: “It’s been a real privilege to work with Marillion on FEAR. It’s a brilliant album and we were determined to give it the platform and support it deserved. Once again it’s been fantastic working alongside earMusic and we look forward to continuing our long and successful relationship”.
Marillion’s Steve Hogarth, said: “Well – that didn’t take long – 27 years for me with the band and fourteen attempts at getting Marillion ‘top-five’ again. Then we go and put ‘Fuck’ in the title and hey presto! Great news. Now how will I deal with the overnight success..?”
