Bananarama choose Absolute for first album in 10 years

Duo will release In Stereo on April 19

Bananarama (Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward) have signed with Absolute Label Services to release their first studio album in a decade.

The new LP, In Stereo will be Bananarama’s 11th studio album and will be released on April 19th through their own IN SYNK label, with Absolute providing full label services support including sales, marketing, distribution and more.

Bananarama’s career spans more than 36 years. It includes two Band Aid appearances and an entry in the Guinness Book Of World Records as the most successful female band worldwide, based on number of chart singles. Many of their songs were international hits, with four hitting the US Billboard Top 10, including a No.1 with ‘Venus’. To date, the duo have had 32 Top 40 UK hits. They have released 10 albums and sold 30 million records.

The duo have written and recorded the new LP with producer Ian Masterson who, as a songwriter, producer or remixer, has worked with a number of chart-topping musical giants including Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Girls Aloud, Belinda Carlisle and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Track ‘Love In Stereo’ was recorded with producer Richard X.

Pre-orders of In Stereo are available now, with new track ‘Dance Music’ currently available on all streaming platforms.

The album will be backed by a one time only ‘Evening With Bananarama’ tour, visiting intimate venues in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow from April 26 – May 2. The show will include a Q&A, the first performance of tracks from the new album, never before performed tracks from the duo years, and new versions of some classics.

The band have just returned from playing dates in the US as well as an Australian tour and will be playing Summer Sonic Festival in Japan (50,000 people) in August, as well as festivals across the summer in the UK and Europe.

We’re pleased to be able to do just that for Bananarama, who remain an important part of the UK’s pop tapestry.”

Bananarama said: “We are delighted to be working with Absolute. It’s a new experience for us and we’ve found it incredibly easy. It’s great to have their support whilst keeping full control over the campaign and ownership of our new album.”
